Each year Swellendam’s population rises but employment opportunities cannot keep up. Unemployment in our town is widespread and is one of the biggest reasons for an increase in crime, drug abuse and early pregnancy in the youth. 

Even though the situation seems hopeless, there is still something that each one of us can do. Hire a local domestic worker. 

When you hire a domestic worker from your community, you are not only ensuring that you have a spotless house and your children or elderly are well taken care of, but you are also giving a single mother or female retiree or young girl an opportunity to make an income and support themselves. Even if it is just for one day, to do some spring cleaning … every little bit counts. PROJECT HOPE will be publishing lists of our local domestic workers on a weekly basis, along with their contact numbers, to help you find the right person for your needs.
