On 29 January 2025 Buffeljagsrivier Correctional Centre held its second annual Prayer session to kick start the year 2025. This was a follow up on the three day of fasting and prayer that the Centre had the previous week. The purpose of this annual event is to invite God into the entire Centre, to bless the institution, anoint it and remove all evil once and for all out of the Centre. To heal broken relationship, hearts, souls and bodies.
All the religious workers rendering services at the Centre came and contribute towards this important course. The man and woman of God were very enthusiastic about the task that awaited on them.
They start praying and anointing the entire Centre, starting from the office the Head of Centre, all other offices, stores, vehicles, the entire building, the fence before they went inside the Centre. In the units all cells from the single cells to the communal cells, all inmates themselves were prayed for and anointed. One inmate who says he is not going to lay done his gangster activities, crumbled before the men of God.
After this, sashes were handed over to the eight Lead Religious and Disciplinary leaders by Ms Xalisa Centre Coordinator Staff support and Ms Mralasi, Section Head Sports Arts, Culture and Recreation. After they received their responsibilities, all of them were prayed for. This in the presence of 200 sentence and remand detainees.
The Head of Centre, Mr Monre Arries, also conveyed a word of thanks to the men of woman of God for the manner I which they conduct and execute the event. It was agreed that this could not only be a once off event, but had to be done more often. What is sure is, that were God is present, miracles can happen.
